A rare suite by Miró

To mark its reopening, the Galerie d'art Arenthon in Paris is presenting an exceptional suite of lithographs by Joan Miró, Le Lézard aux plumes d'or , 1967. The lithographs are available for purchase at the gallery in Paris.

These prints on parchment are signed and numbered artist's proofs. They are part of the rare suites saved after the destruction of the first edition of the book, following a technical problem.

A second version of Le Lézard aux plumes d'or was published in 1971, with new prints created for this edition.

Le Lézard aux plumes d'or is a collaboration between Miró and the art publisher Louis Broder. This work puts Miró's illustrations in dialogue with his own poems, first published in 1945 under the name Jeux poétiques, reworked for the occasion into a single poem. The lizard evoked in the title is absent from the text and would be an alter ego of the artist.

This exhibition is presented in conjunction with our main gallery, the Galerie de l'Institut, which also presents prints by Joan Miró, including the illustrations for Tristan Tzara's L'Antitête (unique prints).
